Learn to control the camera in program mode and take control of exposure as well as the joy of black and white photography. Learn how to take control of the aperture and creative depth of field techniques. Learn how to take control of the shutter and freeze motion and capture time. Informative friendly tuition in each technique will be enhanced with some fun and creative picture making challenges. A great introduction to photography as a fun and creative hobby.

This 2-hour workshop will look at how to make images to give a sense of place, a portrait of a location. You will learn different technical and creative approaches to making a series of images that give an overall impression. From getting close up and personal while mastering shallow depth of field, to wide sweeping establishing shots of iconic landmarks. We will also be on the constant lookout for those 'only in city' moments.Playing with light and shadows you will be encouraged to explore the interplay between light and shadows in street photography to create visually striking images with depth and drama.You will also pick up tips on how to make use of strong compositional techniques, such as the rule of thirds, leading lines, and visual balance.It is also the first day of the Brighton Mod weekender. So expect a lot of colour and characters with their vespers in all their finery, just wanting to be photographed!

Come along to our meetups to improve your art in a relaxed and social atmosphere, and under the guidance of a professional instructor. Complete beginners to experienced artists all welcome.

Our 2 hour meetups are held in a different location each time, usually outdoors.

Bring your own materials which can be anything from pencils or pastels, to watercolour or oils.

If you are a complete beginner all you need to start are a couple of good drawing pencils, a rubber, and a drawing pad.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. The instructor is there to help everyone.

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

This is a painting from my endangered collection featuring the Bonobo primate which are now on the endangered list because of loss of habitat, my entire endangered collection is painted with a huge amount of empathy in the hope that empathy is felt by the viewer and people start to donate to endangered breeding programs.

I loved this photograph from John Strachan photography and finally got around to painting it in acrylic. I tried to be quite loose with the painting as there was so much detail. in the end I thought the sky looked a bit bare so with the help of Chat GPT I added seagulls to the photo and was then able to paint them into my art work. This painting will be heading for the Aberdeen art show the end of August for sale.
